WILL MY INSURANCE COVER MY VISIT?

OHIP does not cover speech and language services. However, speech and language services are covered under most extended health benefit programs. If you intend to have your insurance company reimburse you for speech and language services, please review your benefits plan first. Speech and language services may be listed under any of the following categories: Speech Pathology, Speech Therapy, Rehabilitation Services and/or Extended Health Services.

HOW MUCH DOES A SESSION COST?

Our rates are based on the recommended fee schedule from The Ontario Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (OSLA).

1.5hour Assessment: $250

1 hour Assessment: $180

1 hour Therapy: $160

45 minute Therapy: $135

30 minute Therapy: $90

HOW WILL I BE INVOICED?

Payment is required immediately after the speech and language service is rendered. Payments may be made by e-transfer. Once payment is received, you will be sent a paid invoice via email.

If you intend to have insurance cover the services, you are responsible for submitting your claims independently to your insurance company.

WILL I GET CHARGED A CANCELLATION FEE?

Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CHILD NEEDS SPEECH AND LANGUAGE SERVICES?

If you have any concerns about your child's communication or your child reaching age appropriate milestones, it is a good idea to connect with a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). At Experience Speech we offer a free phone consultation. If you reach out to us via email, we can be sure to connect you with an SLP.

Parents may also be interested in speech and language services if their child is on a waitlist for publically funded services or does not meet criteria for services within school.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE PARENT/CAREGIVER CONSULTATION?

This package includes a 3 hour consultation which provides you with the opportunity to have an SLP coach you on the most efficient and effective ways to promote language development, in your home for your child. At Experience Speech, we believe language is learned and retained through experiential learning. That is, that children learn best when engaged in motivating, meaningful and memorable experiences. This consultation will help you identify your child’s language needs and learn how to facilitate language through everyday experiences such as routines, play and reading.

At the end of this consultation, you will receive a typed document/plan to help you continue to implement the strategies and recommendations from this consultation.

HOW LONG WILL MY CHILD NEED SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY?

Unfortunately, we do not have a direct answer for this question. The length of time a child will need speech and language therapy is dependent on many factors (e.g., severity of your child's speech and language needs, rate of progress made in each therapy sessions etc.).
